For anyone eager to eat food off plates and bowls shaped like various types of toilets from around the world, there is the Modern Toilet Restaurant chain. There are now ten branches of a modern toilet restaurant chain all over China including the big city centers like Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau. They are going to expand this unique business...

In the beginning, they only sold chocolate ice cream which was served as a big pile in containers shaped like a toilet. This humorous spin quickly became a hit and, before long, they expanded from just ice cream into a full fledged theme restaurant with stores all over Taiwan. No table with chairs here, but a table which is surrounded by toilets. Food comes in its own sizzling toilet bowl with a little poop on the side. Dessert of course is the ever popular chocolate ice cream served in a squatter toilet.........

Adrien de Maublanc en Joan Costes, a couple from Paris, are the people who started this. In their shop, located at 34, Rue de Mont-Thabor 75001, Paris, they make visual art, objects and fashion. Adrien also produces music and Joan has a lot of dj gigs. They've been running their own label with succes since 2006.

Volvo tries it now, with the ability to choose a full body foil on your Volvo C30. I'm very curious who dares to order them. After also visiting the fairs 'kleine fabriek'en 'modefabriek'I went to New York with my friend Gea. It was the second time for me, but still overwhelming. Our hotel was in Manhattan on Broadway. When you came out of the hotel the neons were screaming, cars claxoning and people all around, 24 hours a day: the city that never sleeps......
We had 5 days for shopping, so I am sooo inspired now!! We have seen so much nice things, people, shops, bars, clubs and restaurants. Below a little impression and some tips.

Neons and taxis at Broadway!

Designerfabrics at Mood. A few levels of all kind of fabrics and accesoiries. This is the store where they shop for project runway!

We walked a lot. From Brooklyn to Manhattan. Here, walking on the Brooklyn bridge. What a great view. Wow!

'The View" This is a bar in the middle of Time Square on top of the Marriott hotel on the 48th floor. The outside ring of the bar is slowly rotating so you can see a lot in 1 hour!

A shop in Soho with a very nice name.

This is such a lovely, cool (penthouse) bar. The name is 230 Fifth (Fifth Avenue). There is also a rooftop (largest of NY) where you can have a breathtaking view over New York. Because it was soo cold they had a lot of red bathrobes at the rooftop. Everybody was wearing one.

Another nice (sky)bar is the Thom bar at 60 Thompsonstreet. Downstairs you can eat at Kittichai, they have excellent food.

For cheaper options you can go to Cafe el Portal at 174 Elizabeth street (mexican) or Baluchi's at 193 Springstreet (indian).

Bread and Butter, Berlin 2010

2 weeks ago I was at the Bread and butter fair. It was cool as ever, but there wasn't so much new stuff, very safe actually. Again a lot of studs and sequins. Marble finished denims was an overwhelming trend, with a lot of acid and bleach washes. I've seen again some militairy inspired details together with big shoulders.

After visiting the fair I had 3 more days left for shopping!

Last week I went with my friend Gea to London. We've had a real good time. The White Lies came to Brixton Academy and we joined them. They were really great.

A nice restaurant to eat is the Massala Zone. You can eat here real indian food. The price is very low for such nice food. The adress were we have been is Covent Garden, 48 floral st. But there are 7 MZ restaurants in London.

We also shopped a lot! Off course we went to Topshop. See the pictures for a impression!

As you can see a lot of studs, sequins and beads. Shoulderpads everywhere and what also is coming up is the velvet, for leggings, but also for dresses. For the ones who wants really something special you can buy a feather skirt. We've spotted it in different shops.

The leather and fake leather is also very populair. Other things we have seen:

Last weekend I went to Berlin, to the famous Bread and Butter fair. It was so cool. The B&B fair, which returns to Berlin after a five-year abscence, has taken over the city's historic Tempelhof Zentralflughafen, it closed last November in the function of an airport.

First of all, for eating and drinking in the evening, this really is a nice place, Restaurant Solar. It has a lift on the outside that goes to the 16th floor, so... not for people who don't like heights...

...have a chit-chat on great height...

...and enjoy the fact that you found this amazing spot!

Bike repair, you could take it (a repaired one somewhere on the terrain) and see the airport by bike!

There were some real planes and a helicopter placed on the scene. Wow!

Part of the trade was under the roof of the airport, nice to be out of the burning sun this way, too!

There were some guerilla knitters around, they made a lot of nice stuff!

And then...there was rain!! Lots of people were surprised by it and stepped in a 10cm layer of rain, it led to some funny and hilarious moments.
